Your players' level, recalculated after every match.
Anybuddy measures each player's level from the matches actually played at your club, has it confirmed by their partners and protects it against cheating.
It is already included in your booking software. No add-on to plug in.

The blue band shows uncertainty: it narrows with every validated match.
A level that is observed, not just declared
Three sources complement each other: what players say about themselves, what their results say, and what the people who played with them think.
Step 1
A starting point
When signing up, players answer a short questionnaire specific to their sport. They get a starting level with 0% reliability: it is only a hypothesis.
Step 2
Validated matches
After every match or tournament played through Anybuddy, the score is entered and then validated by the opposing team. Nobody validates their own result.
Step 3
Partner feedback
After the match, each player says whether the others seemed weaker than, equal to or stronger than their displayed level. Feedback is anonymous.
Step 4
A reliable level
Match after match, reliability rises to 100% (20 matches). The level settles, and the player enters the rankings for their city and region.
The algorithm: every match is a prediction
Before each match, Anybuddy compares the average level of the two teams and works out who should win, and how likely that is.
After the match, the level moves according to the gap between that prediction and the result. Beating a team that was favourite earns a lot. Beating a weaker team, as expected, earns little.
Reliability sets the pace. A new player moves quickly to find their true place; an established player moves slowly, and a single match is no longer enough to change their level.
In doubles, what counts is each pair's average level. All four players are recalculated after every validated match.

How did you find Julien's level (4.2)?
Your feedback is anonymous.
3 different players rated him stronger over the last three months.
Julien gets a suggestion: move up to 4.7.
The human vote: what the algorithm cannot see
A result does not tell the whole story. A player can lose alongside a struggling partner, or improve faster than their matches show. The people who played with them saw it.
After a match with players they have not met recently, everyone can give their opinion on their level. This feedback does not replace results: it complements them.
- When several different players find someone stronger, Anybuddy suggests they move up half a level.
- Each vote is weighted by the reliability of the person casting it, and no single player can tip the result alone.
- Feedback frames manual changes: it is hard to lower your level if your partners rate it accurate.
Players stay in control, within half a level
An established player can adjust their own level by up to 0.5, once a day. Each adjustment costs a little reliability: their next matches will have to confirm it.
Partner feedback widens this margin upwards, or narrows it downwards when nobody rated them weaker.
During their first matches, while reliability is still low, players can freely correct their starting level. Their reliability then starts again from zero.

The black line marks the current level (4.6).
A level that is hard to game
A level is only worth something if everyone trusts it. Six rules protect it, without penalising those who play fair.
- Validation by the opponent
- A score only counts once the opposing team has confirmed it. Nobody can validate their own result or their partner's.
- Fake beginners exposed
- A player with low reliability who beats stronger opponents earns significantly more points. Anyone who under-declares their level climbs back up within a few matches.
- No penalty for taking a chance
- Losing to a much stronger team costs nothing. Your players can accept a challenge without worrying about their level.
- No free points
- Beating a much weaker team earns nothing. Looking for easy opponents is pointless.
- Allowed an off day
- A favourite who loses a close match against a similar level only loses half the points. One bad evening does not wreck a level.
- Controlled manual changes
- Changing your own level costs reliability, at most once a day. Lowering your level is held back if partners have not rated you weaker.

Frequently asked questions
Do you need to enable or plug in an add-on to get levels?
No. The level is calculated directly by Anybuddy, the software that manages your bookings, public matches and tournaments. There is no account to link and no data to sync with a third-party app.
Which matches change a player's level?
Matches and tournaments played through Anybuddy whose score has been validated by the opposing team. Games played outside the platform are not taken into account.
How many matches does it take for a level to be reliable?
Reliability increases with every validated match and reaches 100% after 20 matches. A player appears in the public rankings after just a few matches, once a minimum reliability is reached.
Can a player cheat by underestimating their level?
That is exactly what the system is designed to prevent: a player with low reliability who beats stronger opponents climbs much faster, manual changes cost reliability, and partner feedback holds back unjustified drops.
What is the players' vote for?
The algorithm only sees results. Partners see the game. When several different players find someone stronger than their level, Anybuddy suggests they move up half a level. Feedback also frames the changes players make themselves.
Can players change their own level?
Yes, within half a level once their level is established, and at most once a day. Each adjustment costs reliability. Partner feedback widens the margin upwards and holds back unjustified drops.
Which sports is the level available for?
Each player has one level per sport, on a scale from 0 to 8: padel, tennis and the other racket sports offered at your club.
